London Wonders, The Borough Market

Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Flávia, from Brazil, but I've been living in London for a year now. Introductions made, here goes the first post of our blog in the English version. Just so that you know, we have this blog in the Portuguese version, but we've decided to share our experiences with more people and for that we are starting with our English version (the Portuguese will keep on going regardless of this English version).
Dear reader, it is with great honor that I kick off our beloved GU ("Gastronomic Utopias") with a post about one of my favorite places in London (maybe the favorite): the Borough Market. It is one of the gastronomic hotspots in the city, one to please the most demanding foodie. The gastronomic orgy that the place provides is such that this post very unlikely be the only one about it.

What is on the menu today? The raclette sold in the stall of Kappacasein. It is simply perfect… The description: while they heat up some potatoes, a marvelous cheese  (oggleshield) is melted until its surface is gratin. You can smell the cheese miles and miles away, but it is totally worth a try. The cheese is then shaved and put on top of the potatoes and put together with some pickles and black pepper. Result: a great pleasure for only 5 pounds. In the same stall, they also have a cheese sandwich with onions, which is delicious  (I must confess, though: I like the raclette better).

The Borough Market is near the London Bridge tube station 8 Southwark Street, London. http://www.kappacasein.com/
